Sustainability

Following the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and the GSTC’s Industry criteria.

By design, the Piha’apape Estate – Tahitian Wellness Sanctuary will have a carbon negative/positive footprint.  Negative, due to carbon accounting and understanding the full scope of the direct and indirect impacts.  Positive, as the plan again is by design to do more than what is required or expected, by going deep within the local Mahina community in order to bring opportunity through education, wellness, employment and entrepreneurial inspiration.

Through the creation of the Ha’apape Fund, a reinvestment into the community will be made, breathing life into Piha’apape Estate. This fund will be generated through a mandatory levy on stays that will invest in nature and social based initiatives.  Respecting Nature as well as the people Piha’apape relies upon for its success will be paramount.

Going further than just the direct impacts of developing and operating a luxury hospitality venture, also known as scope 1 and 2 emissions, including waste and water management along with consumption of energy.  The Piha’apape team understands that throughout the development process including the welcoming of guests, it is our responsibility to account for all impacts, including indirect impacts, also known as scope 3.  Accounting for both direct and indirect impacts, Piha’apape Estate Tahitian Wellness Sanctuary brings a holistic approach to providing a luxury hospitality experience.  Not only to its guests but most importantly to the local communities and natural resources.

Piha’apape, is and will be a source of vitality in the Mahina community, truly existing for and by them.  Piha’apape Estate Wellness Sanctuary fully intends to be a key asset and provider of socio-economic opportunities for the entire Mahina community and Tahiti as a whole.
